Be More Excellent U Takes the Stress out of Succeeding in School & Life

Interactive, Virtual Learning that Produces Authentic Results Proven to Give your Child the Skills and Confidence to Get Organized, Self-Advocate, and Succeed in School & Life.

What are Executive Function Skills?

Harvard University's Center on the Developing Child reports that "Executive function and self-regulation skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and juggle multiple tasks successfully. Just as an air traffic control system at a busy airport safely manages the arrivals and departures of many aircraft on multiple runways, the brain needs this skill set to filter distractions, prioritize tasks, set and achieve goals, and control impulses."

Relevant. Rigorous. Real-World Learning.

Be More Excellent U Scholars Executive Function Seminar is based upon the pedagogy of real-world learning. Students who participate in our seminars produce relevant, meaningful artifacts, and our process strategically activates and strengthens the executive function skills we teach them in a real-world context.

BEMU scholars quickly learn that they have to produce quality work that will be immediately used in a real-world context and that their most valuable “grade” is the feedback that they receive from the professionals with whom they communicate outside of the classroom. Since we are striving to create a student culture of excellence, students are given multiple opportunities to reflect upon and revise their work. We embrace a learning cycle whereby students have an opportunity to safely fail, receive constant feedback, and more opportunities to succeed through the resubmission of their work. Ultimately, this pedagogy accelerates the learning cycle and the development of executive function skills for students.

At the end of the program, students present everything they learned in the seminar to their peers, teachers, family, and friends in a Final Exhibition.

Inevitably, school leaders, parents, and guests are amazed by how much their students produced in such a short period of time. Our surveys show that parents' number one response is that their child's confidence has dramatically increased.

Schedule a Strategy Session with The Barlows to make this exceptional opportunity available to the students you serve.

I noticed a difference in my scholar. She is more assertive and has already begun to be a more critical thinker. Her study habits have also increased significantly.
